― VELDT Begins the Rollout of Causal AI Assistant to Inherit and Evolve Expert Knowledge ―
Delivering a Trusted AI Environment Together with Semantic Layer Integration Services

VELDT Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Jin Nonogami) announced today the phased rollout of its Causal AI Assistant, an AI solution designed to inherit and continuously evolve the knowledge of highly skilled experts, as part of its Causal AI platform xCausal™.

Unlike conventional tools that perform one-off causal discovery or causal inference, Causal AI Assistant is designed to function as an intelligent engine embedded within an organization. It continuously operationalizes and updates expert knowledge and decision-making processes as causal models, supporting day-to-day operations and strategic decision-making over time. By combining the strengths of Causal AI, Generative AI, and AI agents, this novel solution enables organizations to make advanced expertise, tacit knowledge, and decision logic accessible to everyone in a form that ensures reproducibility and explainability. Rather than remaining static results of analysis, causal models evolve continuously by incorporating new data and human judgment, thereby increasing their value as organizational knowledge assets. In addition to implementation support and custom development, VELDT has also launched professional services for implementing the Semantic Layer, enabling AI agents to correctly interpret the meaning of data within an organization’s unique context. This allows Causal AI Assistant to support highly reliable decision-making while seamlessly integrating with business processes and systems.

VELDT has also announced that, starting in 2026, it will adopt a new mission statement:
“We power your business with WHY — Redefining trust in the age of AI.”
Causal AI Assistant is provided as a concrete embodiment of this philosophy, aiming to establish a new foundation of trust in AI-driven decision-making.

■ What Is Causal AI Assistant?

Causal AI Assistant is an AI assistant that organizes and validates knowledge and decision-making processes of experts and experienced professionals within organizations as causal models, making them accessible to all members of the organization. In response to user queries, the assistant dynamically selects the most appropriate AI model based on the nature and context of the question. Generative AI provides answers to general research inquiries and broadly applicable questions, while Causal AI responds to questions that directly impact organizational decision-making—such as those requiring domain-specific assumptions, expert knowledge, or concrete action planning. While conventional generative AI and analytical tools can generate natural language responses by learning patterns from large volumes of data, they may still produce incorrect conclusions depending on context or conditions. By contrast, the Causal AI Assistant bases its responses on pre-validated and approved causal models (referred to as “Causal Assets”), ensuring high level of reproducibility, consistency, and explainability aligned with organizational knowledge and assumptions. By leveraging the flexibility of generative AI while returning causally grounded judgments in decision-critical situations, Causal AI Assistant provides a trusted AI environment suitable for real-world business and operational use.

■ AI Assistant Capabilities Optimized for Experts (Administrators) and Users

Within the xCausal™ platform, experts and administrators build and validate causal models based on domain knowledge, experience, and data analysis results. Models that pass validation are managed as Causal Assets, positioned not as mere analytical outputs but as intellectual assets that replicate expert reasoning and decision criteria. To enable efficient construction of these assets, VELDT provides a suite of Autonomous Causal Modeling Agents, supporting interactive creation, editing, and validation of causal diagrams (including causal discovery) through a conversational UI. The platform also offers core capabilities such as Average Treatment Effect (ATE) and stratified causal effect estimation, as well as advanced causal inference functions—including Conditional Average Treatment Effect (CATE) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)—that have been technically validated by VELDT.

General users, on the other hand, can interact with approved Causal Assets using the natural, Generative-AI-style conversational interface. Without requiring knowledge of specialized analytical methods, users can gain decision-relevant understanding—such as how outcomes arise and how results may change under different conditions—supporting informed and confident decision-making across the organization.

■ Semantic Layer Integration Services

For AI agents to be effectively used in operational and decision-making environments, advanced reasoning capabilities alone are not sufficient. AI must also correctly understand the meaning of the words and data used by people and organizations. In real-world business settings, the same terms may carry different meanings across departments or roles, and data fields often contain implicit assumptions or contextual nuances. Even when database codes or column names are identical, their interpretations can vary significantly by organization or use case. If AI systems process such data via SQL or other mechanisms without understanding these semantic differences, they risk producing results that diverge from business intent. Through its Semantic Layer Integration Services, VELDT structures organization-specific terminology, business context, and data definitions, linking coded data to its underlying business meaning. This enables AI agents to operate based on a shared semantic understanding, ensuring that causal reasoning and data processing remain consistent with organizational context. By combining causal reasoning with semantic understanding, AI agents can perform processing that is reproducible, consistent, and aligned with organizational assumptions, forming a reliable foundation for trusted AI-driven operations.

■ About VELDT’s New Mission Statement

Beginning in 2026, VELDT has adopted the following mission statement:
“We power your business with WHY — Redefining trust in the age of AI.”

Before AI became a core technology, trust in business was built through human relationships, accumulated experience, and proven track records. Both decision authority and accountability clearly resided with people. Today, however, as AI increasingly analyzes, predicts, recommends, and even makes decisions autonomously, traditional notions of trust are being fundamentally challenged. As AI becomes deeply embedded in decision processes, who made a decision becomes less visible, and why that decision was made becomes harder to discern. We believe this structural shift lies at the heart of the erosion of trust in the era of AI. At the same time, responsibility for business outcomes and societal impact continues to rest with humans. This is why AI must not replace human judgment, but instead support it by making the reasoning behind decisions explicit and understandable. Our goal is not to simply trust AI-generated outputs, but to create environments in which people understand why decisions are made and can participate responsibly in them. Rather than competing solely on AI performance, we focus on designing the relationship between humans and AI—how AI is used and how it informs judgment—which we believe is the true source of innovation in the AI age. Through causal AI and professional services, we will continue redefining trust by supporting a future in which humans and AI collaborate in decision-making.

■ About VELDT Inc.

VELDT Inc. is a data science company dedicated to developing data analytics technologies that accelerate social problem-solving and promote what we call “Goodwill Innovation.” While many mainstream AI technologies today operate as black-box systems—making it difficult to explain the reasoning behind their outputs—fields such as decision-making, problem-solving, and research and development require a white-box approach that enables interpretation and explanation of how results are derived. By combining the strengths of causal, white-box technologies with correlation-based, black-box AI, VELDT provides innovators with “trustworthy AI” that delivers both performance and transparency. Rather than merely pursuing technological advancement, VELDT aims to redefine how humanity engages with technology, creating a positive spiral between human society and the global environment.
